Top 10 Tips for Good English

Good English is a skill just like any other, but one that can be constantly worked on to make sure that your English is perfected.  Because it is a skill you need to keep it sharp and work constantly at it.

The first rule is to keep learning words and make sure that your vocabulary is always increasing. Next, keep reading good English.  Try to read some quality newspapers, books and literary works, rather than relying on internet websites or poor quality newspapers.  The third rule is to write, using different techniques and many different ways of saying things.  Fourthly, make sure that you get to grips with the structure of the language.  This means that you need to understand how the language is constructed.  English relies on a structure where the subject comes first, then the verb and finally, the object.  This may seem irrelevant, but it is important and understanding this will help make the learning process easier.
The fifth rule is to ensure that you understand the grammar of the language and how it all fits together.
Spelling is the sixth rule and it may not be very exciting, but it is the foundation of the language.
Revising your work on a regular basis is a very important rule to apply.  This involves reading your work and checking it for any mistakes or errors.
The eighth rule is to practise speaking English, particularly with native English speakers or at least with other people who are learning English.
Always use whatever opportunity you can to practice English, whenever and wherever you can.
Finally, always learn from any mistakes and ask people for feedback about your accent and pronunciation and then work on any suggestions they make to you.  This will really help perfect your accent.
